This time last year we were wondering what to call ourselves. After almost 30 years in cross cultural service (primarily in East Africa) it was time to launch an organization tailored to our specific passion-- spiritual and economic transformation together. In the work place... In the thick of daily life...
All our years and experiences had prepared us and sharpened our focus. Suddenly, it was GO time.
We like the Swahili word, wema. (Sounds like Emma!) We like the simple definition "goodness." We like the English word, ventures. We like that it captures the sense of adventure, daring, effort, enterprise and launching. Something is risked in the hope of good gain. Yes. YES! We like (no, we LOVE) God's goodness toward us. We want to share that goodness through our ventures, our efforts.
It's been an amazing start surrounded by a wise, supportive and enthusiastic Board of Directors. We've been thrilled by how quickly things have come together and how much has been accomplished since we incorporated in April 2013. We'll be blogging more about all that soon.
For now, we just want to celebrate the creation of this beautiful site. Our hats are off to the great Steven Denler!
Join us as we pursue the facilitation of spiritual and economic transformation by way of "good ventures" in East Africa!
